Flushing of the Water Mains Resumes

Domestic water distribution flushing will resume January 11, 2024

The Stanford Water Resources and Civil Infrastructure Group will resume routine flushing of the campus water distribution system in the core of campus, from approximately January 11th through February 2nd. All flushing will take place on weekdays between 6 am and 4 pm, using a truck mounted filtration system to reduce the amount of water waste.

Flushing the mains may cause some slight but temporary reduction in water pressure and possible water discoloration. However, your water remains safe for drinking. If you observe sediment or coloration in water, continue to run the water until it is again clear.

The approximate schedule for flushing is as follows (see map):

  • Zone 2 – Pink Area of Map (Central Campus and Academic areas -- approximately within Campus Drive loop, additionally north to Sand Hill Road and between Bowdoin St. and Mayfield Ave.) Starts approximately Thursday, January 11th and ends approximately Friday, February 2nd; daily 6 am to 4 pm.
